Upheaval Dome Is a Geologic Mystery

There is a geological formation in the Island of the Sky District called Upheaval Dome. Geologists aren't sure what caused this formation. 

Canyonlands in the Movies

"127 Hours" starring James Franco was not only filmed in Canyonlands, but the story itself actually occurred in The Maze District.

Canyonlands is a Dark Sky Park

Canyonlands National Park was announced as an International Dark Sky Park in 2015.  The best time for stargazing in Canyonlands is when the sky is darkest.
