Fall is a terrific time to explore the trails of Capitol Reef National Park. Early fall is still a busy season so there will be crowds.

Capitol Reef in September: highs 80 / lows 50 F Capitol Reef in October: highs 65 / lows 40 F Capitol Reef in November: highs 50 / lows 30 F

Capitol Gorge is one of the best easy hikes in the park.  It leads into a steep walled canyon that is prone to flash flooding when it rains.

The Goosenecks Trail is a short switchback hike with a few rocky steps before hitting the top that overlooks Sulphur Creek Canyon.

The Hickman Bridge Trail is one of the more popular Capitol Reef hikes.  It's a moderate hike that begins with some smaller switchbacks before leveling out.
