Park rangers are a great source of information about the park. You can also find out what Capitol Reef Ranger-led Programs are available during the summer.
The main scenic drive for the park is 7.9 miles long. The paved road is nice for passenger vehicles. There are two dirt spur roads off the scenic drive; Grand Wash and Capitol Gorge.
The Fruita Valley includes the Gifford Homestead, blacksmith shop, barn and orchards. It's a great place for enjoying history, homemade items and homemade pies and icecream.

Capitol Reef National Park is internationally recognized as a great place to stargaze due to the area's dark sky. The remote location and clear skie enable incredible night sky views including the Milky Way.
Hiking in Capitol Reef is one of the fun ways to appreciate the park. There are easy trails for families and casual hikers and strenuous trails for those who want more of a challenge.
