Best Time to Visit the Northern Loop

Yellowstone National Park covers over 2 million acres. It's divide into 2 sections, The Northern and Southern Loops.

Yellowstone Visitors Centers

– Norris Area Museums     (Open daily between     late May and late     September) – Albright Visitor Center at     Mammoth (open daily     between 9:00 and 5:00     pm)

Mammoth Hot Springs & The Northern Entrance

Roosevelt Arch was the main entrance to Yellowstone when it was dedicated in 1903 by the 26th president.

Mammoth to Roosevelt

From Mammoth through Roosevelt you’ll pass Undine Falls, Wraith Falls, Blacktail Plateau Drive, and the Petrified Tree.

Roosevelt to Lamar Valley 

To see wildlife, add Lamar Valley to your northern loop itinerary. It’s a wide open, grassy expanse full of wildlife. 

Roosevelt to Tower

From Roosevelt to Tower Falls, there's a short trail to the 132 foot waterfall. There’s a general store and snack bar here too.
