There are many Zion National Park winter activities you can do during this time of year. Winter is the off-season at Zion which means smaller crowds and you can drive into Zion Canyon!

Does it Snow at Zion?

Zion is located in Southern Utah. Normally they do not see a lot of snow. They may see up to 5 inches a year in the park.

Winter Hiking in Zion

Be sure to dress in layers so you can adapt to any changes of weather while hiking. Many trails are in shade and near the river which adds to the cold.

Scenic Drives in Winter in Zion National Park

In winter you are able to drive the four Zion NP scenic drives! The Zion Canyon road is only open to cars from November to March, except for holidays.

Winter Cycling in Zion

Biking is permitted on park roadways and the Pa’rus Trail. The areas closed to bikes: all other park trails, off-trail routes, and the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel.

Winter Camping in Zion

The Watchman Campground is next to the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. It’s about a quarter of a mile from the South Entrance of Zion in Springdale.
