Things to Know Before Visiting Canyonlands National Park

The two most-visited regions of Canyonlands are Island in the Sky and Needles. Both are remote areas with very few guest services: no food, lodging (except for Canyonlands National Park camping), or gas.

There are no cabins inside the park at either district of Canyonlands. You’ll find all types of cabins in the Moab area that are close to Arches or Canyonlands.

When deciding the best time to visit Canyonlands National Park, it all depends on the type of activities you want to do.

The Canyonlands National Park weather is ideal during late spring and fall for camping. In the summer temperatures reach 100 degrees F, and there aren’t many options for shade! Be prepared for COLD temperatures, rain, and snow in the winter!

Cabins Near Canyonlands National Park

You can choose from a variety of cabins options near Arches National Park from rustic cabins at RV Parks to vacation rental cabins with all the amenities of home!

One thing to note when looking at cabins at Campgrounds and RV Parks – check to see if bedding and linens provided!!

Here are some cabins that would work to visit both Island in the Sky and Needles Canyonlands!

Sorrel River Resort Cabins

Located about 15 miles east of Moab along the Colorado River, you’ll find this stunning location on 240 acres of Utah ranchland! Accommodations at Sorrel River Resort range from standard guest rooms, cabins, or a big ranch house for a private, spacious, and inviting retreat. The property has an outdoor pool and a bar or lounge.

All cabins come with a private porch with sitting area for two, living area with satellite TV, kitchenette, dining area, and claw-foot jetted tub!

• River Studio – 1 king or 2 queen beds, sleeps up to 4.
• Mesa Studio – 1 king or 2 queen beds, sleeps up to 4.

Red Rock Cliffs Cabins

Moab Springs Ranch Cabins

With convenient access to the extensive trail network of Moab, Moab Springs Ranch is conveniently located near Arches National Park, the Colorado River, and downtown Moab.

Stand-alone luxury bungalows: a kitchenette, vaulted ceilings, outdoor dining sets, private porches, and drive-up access.

Townhouses with one, two, and three bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a covered deck for outdoor dining.

Sun Outdoors Arches Cabins

Located at the north end of Moab just minutes from the Arches National Park entrance, this glamping spot provides easy access to Island in the Sky. This RV park offers a Premium Cottage, Standard Cabins, and Airstream glamping options.

The Premium Cottage features two bedrooms to sleep up to 6 and include linens, full bathroom, cable TV, WiFi, and kitchenette.

The Standard Cabins sleep up to 4 and include linens, cable TV, WiFi, and mini fridge. The restroom and hot showers are located in a separate facility nearby.

Sunny Acres Cabin

Located on the south end of Moab, you’ll enjoy views of the La Sal Mountains! This is a great location if you plan to visit both Island in the Sky and Needles.

The cabins have a private bathroom, complimentary toiletries and bed linen, and a seating area for each guest. It is a non-smoking property that allows pets inside and offers free parking space.

No internet access is available, but ATMs and cash machines are onsite for your convenience.

St. Dane’s Cabins & Campground

Located in the Spanish Valley area on the south end of Moab, this location is midway between Island in the Sky and Needles.

You’ll find six cabins to choose from: fun unique exterior colors, dog-friendly, all linens/toiletries provided, BBQ grill, LED fireplace, AC and heat, with private at-door parking.

The Big Horn Cabin – loft with queen bed, sleeper sofa, two win sleepers, full bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, hot tub, and wrap-around porch. Cabin sleeps up to 6. There is a 3 night minimum.

The other five cabins – queen bed, sleeper sofa, full bathroom, fully equipped kitchenette, fenced-in patio area. Cabin sleeps up to 4. There is a 2 night minimum.

Pack Creek Ranch Cabins

The cabins are nestled in the foothills of the La Sal Mountains, south of Moab, on 15 acres of pasture land. This secluded property is associated with a 300-acre historic mountain ranch.

Each of the ten houses has an old west, log cabin, and rustic elegance vibe. 

Pack Creek Ranch offers an off-grid experience with some limited internet access in some of the cabins.
