Bryce Canyon Scenic Drive

The Bryce Canyon scenic drive offers views of hoodoos, arches and windows at various viewpoints and overlooks.

We always recommend you start by driving to the end of the road at Rainbow Point then working your way back to the amphitheater. This way all the overlooks are on the right so it’s easy to pull in and out of each parking lot.

You can also use the free shuttle during the summer season.

Bryce Canyon Famous Hoodoos

Bryce Canyon is famous for the largest collection of hoodoos in all the world! These incredible rock formations are the highlight when visiting Bryce Canyon National Park and should be at the top of your list.

Water erosion through the years has left behind these beautiful, crimson-colored rock structures we call hoodoos; each one is unique.

There are plenty of hoodoos located throughout the park, but you should plan on checking out the popular Thor’s Hammer and Queen Victoria found on the Navajo Loop Queen’s Garden Trail and the Hunter and Rabbit along the scenic drive.

Bryce Canyon Amphitheater

One of the main attractions, and the most visited section of the park, is the Bryce Amphitheater. The visitor center, park lodge, and campgrounds are in this area.

Here you can see spectacular viewpoints, iconic hoodoos, impressive geological formations, and access excellent Bryce Canyon hikes.

The best Bryce Canyon sunrise photography is from the amphitheater. We recommend Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point or Bryce Point.

Bryce Canyon Certified Dark Sky

Bryce Canyon National Park is one of the places in the US you have the privilege of viewing the Milky Way. It’s known for it’s stargazing due it’s designation as a Dark Sky certified park.

For those interested in learning more, the park offers telescope tours and Bryce Canyon astronomy programs. They also have an Astronomy Festival each year!

There are many easy, moderate and strenuous day hikes at Bryce Canyon National Park to accommodate all hiking levels.

Hiking at Bryce Canyon is definitely a unique experience where you see hoodoos, windows, arches, bridges, tunnels, waterfalls and more!

How Long Should I Spend at Bryce Canyon?

We recommend spending at least two days in Bryce Canyon National Park. Some of the fun activities you can do include: scenic drive, hiking, photography, horseback riding, ATV tours and stargazing!

If you only have have one day to explore Bryce Canyon, the scenic drive is the best way to see the park in a short time.

We suggest you stop at the Visitor Center first to get the current weather forecast, a schedule of programs and tours, a list of things to do at Bryce Canyon National Park.

Make the most of your time by taking the 18-mile Bryce Canyon scenic drive. From here you can enjoy all the park’s major overlooks. We recommend you drive out to the south end and then stop at the viewpoints on the way back in, this will put the pull offs on the right side of the road and make it easier for getting in and out.

One of the best ways to experience the park is exploring the Bryce Canyon hikes. You get a different perspective as you get closer to the hoodoos. There are many short and easy trails you can do.

Be sure to make a stop at the Mossy Cave that’s just a bit outside the park along Highway 12 to end your one day at Bryce Canyon.
