Arches National Park in September
Arches National Park is open 24/7. In September you’ll need an Arches Timed Entry Ticket to enter the park from 6 am to 5 pm. Don’t worry if you can’t get a ticket because you can still visit the park as long as you enter before 6 am. Time your entry so you can see and photograph the sunrise at Arches National Park!
Another option is to visit the park after 5 p.m. when the crowds in the late afternoon start to diminish. You won’t need a ticket to see and photograph the sunset at Arches National Park, or enjoy stargazing at night!
We love exploring the Arches National Park fall hikes because the weather is cooler than in the summer which allows us to hike around most of the day.

Canyonlands in September

Capitol Reef National Park in September

The Capitol Reef Fruita area is the main part of the park where you’ll find the Visitor Center, Gifford Homestead, blacksmith shop, barn, orchards, and campground.

Glacier National Park in September
September is one of the best times to enjoy outdoor activities at Glacier: rafting, fishing, biking and hiking. The weather at Glacier in September means sunny days (but not too hot) and cooler nights.

Mid-September ends the hot season at the park, so it’s a good time to visit. Enjoy the outdoors at Hot Springs with over 30 miles of hiking trails, plenty of scenic roads to drive, and picnic areas.

Zion National Park in September
Yes. The Zion National Park shuttle is running every day in September so check the shuttle schedule for the most updated information.
The other three Zion National Park scenic drives are open for you to drive your own car: Highway 9, Kolob Terrace Road and Kolob Canyon.
A September trip to Zion will be hot and crowded. Be sure to hit the shuttle, trails and Highway 9 scenic drive first thing in the morning!
In early September at Zion National Park you will only see a little bit of fall color on the leaves at the higher elevations. By mid-September about 30 to 50 percent of the trees at the higher elevation have changed color. As late September comes around you will usually be able to see fall colors all over Zion National Park!
